Get the Most out of Your Physical Therapy in Grand Junction

These exercises are designed for you to build up strength over time. It is not supposed to cause pain for you to do these exercises, and it shouldn’t if you are doing them right. Talk to your therapist about the exercises you are learning, and ask questions if you are not sure what to do.

Be Consistent With Treatment

As you progress in physical therapy, it can be tempting to skip appointments. This will not benefit you, and can even slow down your progress. When you are in treatment for an injury or chronic condition, treatment works best when you stay consistent with treatment. Make time in your week to get the care you deserve in order to heal. Prioritize your physical therapy appointments, and remember to stay focused on your healing.

Do Your Exercises at Home

The exercises and stretching you are prescribed won’t work if you don’t actually follow through with the exercises. Once you learn how to do the exercises with the help of your physical therapist, be sure to do the exercises at home in between sessions. This will help you build strength slowly. Be honest with your therapist if you have not had time to do your exercises. You will progress faster if you take the time each day to complete the sets of exercises you are prescribed.

Don’t Push Yourself Too Quickly

As you heal, you might start to feel like you can return to your old activities. It is important that you don’t injure yourself as you are trying to recover. If you want to try a new activity, talk with your physical therapist before you do. It is possible that you are not quite ready to start a new activity, and this can set you back in your treatment goals.
